AltEPG

I've just set up my networked tivo to use AltEPG today (thanks for all the effort that everyone has put into this!).

However, after several forced daily calls, I still have only a few hours of guide data showing - I haven't seen anything past 1am (BST) tomorrow (which is midnight, GMT). Also, some channes have no data at all (notably Sky1 and Sky2, which I believe are supported).

I'm sure that I saw some guide data for later dates when I first looked at it earlier today, but right now (~10pm) I have only 3 hours of programme info.

Is this a recognised problem?

The only unusual thing that happened during guided setup was that the TiVo insisted that there was no incoming signal when I got to the (Virgin Media) set-top box setup section (even though the signal was definitely present and visible using the TiVo's "Aux" bypass). A reboot didn't fix this, and I had to power down and cold boot the TiVo and set top box. This fixed the "no incoming signal" problem, but I wonder if it might have affected the guide data unpacking process.

Any suggestions?

Well, as soon as I completed my last posting Itried yet another (network) "daily call" (about the 10th one today) and, of course, this time it's doing something different. It's currently predicting around 15 mins to unpack the downloaded data, compared with an almost instantaneous completion previously, so it looks like it might have got more data this time.

Well, it downloaded more data. Just not what was expected. What I got was very patchy - some channels got nothing, others have large gaps. BBC1, for example, has programmes for 2nd June (today), then nothing until Sat 11th June - a 9-day gap.

Can anyone throw any light on this? Is anyone else seeing the same effect?

Having reached the end of my 3-hour EPG, I decided that the only thing to do was to re-run guided setup.

At the point where the set top box configuration is performed, I covered up the STB's IR receiver (last time, it had jumped to channel 0 several times, which might have been why the TiVo's input locked up and needed a reboot). This seemed to work, anyhow, and the programme guide seems to have downloaded successfully this time.
